ASL Meet Up at Cleveland Rock Gym

Just got back from my first ever indoor rock climbing adventure! Some Deaf & signing folks (interpreters, students, etc) got together at the Cleveland Rock Gym and I had an awesome time signing, climbing, and snapping photos!
The wall was a tad intimidating at first.  Luckily the group & staff were super friendly and helpful!

My arms got pretty tired out after three climbs, but I almost made it to the top on my last trip up. It was a pretty fun work out, and I found my Yoga background really helped.  I expected to be totally terrified when I got closer to the top and looked down, but since I was focusing on my breathing and locating foot/hand holds and y'know, the fun of it all, I was happy to discover that I wasn't the least bit scared anymore. Though truthfully I should just completely credit that to the lovely gal in green keeping me safe at the bottom there holding my harness & ropes (my belayer!), haha :)

Thinkin' about where to go next..
Apparently there are different difficulties, which is why the stones are marked. Surely I will be a novice for awhile, but I can't wait to go again with Mr. Blue Sky someday!

  1. I'm not that scared of heights, but rock walls do look a little scary! Maybe because it's straight up? Although I will repel and not be scared. Maybe because with repelling I'm coming down! LOL. Looks like a lot of fun! <3

  2. I love indoor climbing, but I am terrified of heights - I seriously get to the top and then can't get down again. It's ridiculous. Sounds like an amazing day xo
